Miss Madeline, if a man has a stomach you can wash clothes on, and he’s interested in you, you don’t show him the door.

Lillian, the maid

How many men can a girl go through? Apparently, a few if you’re Madeline Bennett. I couldn’t tell where she was going to land, but the ride was so fun I couldn’t get off.

Freshly graduated Maddy, destined for a cushy hospitality job, was assigned to the Knight’s Guild instead. To her frustration, instead of choosing dinnerware for the next big party, she got stuck in second-rate hotel rooms with three burly “bounty hunters”.

I’m not sure what the problem was. Not a single one of those men was hard to look at. In fact, Maddy didn’t mind staring all day, and eventually decided to make the most of the situation. Who can blame her? I mean, what’s a girl to do? Even I couldn’t resist Gray, Eric, and Jonathan’s charm. Yes, please!

Guild of Secrets follows Aparian law enforcement as they try to keep the magical outlaws under wraps. However, there’s a bit more going on than that. The prologue hints at a larger story–one that doesn’t make much of an appearance in this first book, but gains momentum later in the series. The Obsidian Queen is worth the ride, and don’t worry, Maddy will eventually pick a guy. Though I was a little torn, I did ultimately support her choice.
